2012 Oscar Red Carpet Best And Worst Dressed

We love award show season because it highlights some of entertainments elites but we love the fashion even more. The 84th Academy Award show took place at the Hollywood and Highland Center in Hollywood, California Sunday night honoring the best films of 2011. Let’s take a look at some of the best and worst dressed women of the night.

Oscar winner Octavia Spencer wore her favorite designer, Tadashi Shoji; a beaded white gown a crystal-studded clutch and diamond chandelier earrings to finish off her look.

Viola Davis wore a beautiful emerald Vera Wang gown. Gorgeous! Also loving her new short and natural auburn hair do. It’s a bold move, however, not everyone is loving the look.

We love Meryl Streep but this can’t help but to dislike this gold Lanvin gown. The dress is not well tailored nor appealing to the eye. Maybe next time Meryl. The actress did, however, take home an award for best actress for “The Iron Lady.”

Michelle Williams shines in a Louis Vuitton coral peplum gown. She can do no wrong.

Another woman who can do no wrong, Angelina Jolie wearing a black Atelier Versace gown with a sexy thigh high slit. She almost looks like a statue.

Jennifer Lopez in Zuhair Murad gown. This is by far one of my favorite looks. Loving the lined symmetry and detail.

Sherri Shepherd made a very bold move by wearing a visible strapless black bra with her royal blue gown. However the dress compliments her frame.

Gwyneth Paltrow can do no wrong in her caped Tom Ford gown. Perhaps the cape wasn’t necessary and took away from the dress but Paltrow manages to pull this look off as she often does. Very pretty.

‘Bridesmaids’ star Melissa McCarthy wore a custom mauve Marina Rinaldi gown.

We give Maya Rudolph a standing ova for her custom made Johanna Johnson. Rudolph is not known for making it on anyone’s best dressed list often but this eggplant beaded gown with capped sleeves and a dramatic train is flawless.

Shaun Robinson wearing a gold lamé Romona Keveza halter gown.

Esperanza Spalding wore an unflattering strapless gown. Spalding is not exactly known as a fashionista so we’ll give her a pass this time.

Sandra Bullock wore a black-and-white Marchesa gown. Not one of my faves from the actress. In fact, the dress seems a little loose fitting on top while form fitting around the hips but I love the jeweled detail.

Check out these Oscar party attendees looking quite fashionable as well.

Katy Perry looks perfect in this glittering Blumarine gown and Miu Miu shoes at the Elton John Foundation viewing party.

Dita Von Teese wore a pink Jenny Packham dress paired with Bulgari diamonds and Christian Louboutin pumps at Elton John Foundation viewing party.

Mylie Cyrus wearing Roberto Cavalli at Elton John Foundation viewing party.

Kim Kardashian was in attendance as well looking stunning.

The ladies look lovely.
