Summary
Sheree Whitfield is a boss in her own right. Here are 5 lessons we've learned from the reality TV star turn business woman.
Real Housewives of Atlanta (RHOA) star Sheree Whitfield made waves in the Fall of 2022 when she launched her clothing and athletic line, SHE BY SHEREE. The reason? The launch took 14 years to happen. Since her debut on RHOA back in 2008, Sheree has made it clear she intended on launching her own clothing line, but with her inconsistency on the show and inconsistency with keeping up with the project, it didn’t happen for a long time. Not until September 2022. Upon its debut, Sheree faced a lot of backlash for not only taking so long but for not having original designs. In fact, critics suggested the designs were similar to those of another and more popular e-commerce store, SHEIN. Adding fury to the fire, the reality star’s price and markups, for seemingly unoriginal designs, were astronomical. While some of the critiques may have been valid, we think there are 5 lessons we can learn from Sheree. Let’s discuss.
- She didn’t give up on her dreams. Despite announcing she would launch her clothing line in 2008, SHE BY SHEREE, then taking 14 years to do so, she did it! Sheree was not phased despite receiving criticism, year after year. And in the Spring, Summer, we mean Fall of 2022, it finally debuted.
- She didn’t listen to her haters. With the delayed launch, many people wrote her off, but the reality star and entrepreneur showed them in the end with the 2022 launch. Many people would have gotten discouraged but Sheree wasn’t phased. She did it on her time and by her own rules. A lesson many of us can learn.
- She wasn’t afraid of failing. When SHE BY SHEREE finally launched, it didn’t exactly break the internet, according to Sheree. More like the internet broke it…the website that is. But Sheree persevered. Despite receiving criticism for not having original designs, items being overpriced and her website malfunctioning, she later would continue with a relaunch and production of her athletic wear.
- She didn’t let age discourage her. The 53-year-old was 38 when she joined the cast of RHOA, but she was determined to launch her clothing line, SHE BY SHEREE, from the very beginning. In 2008, when the show premiered and we would be introduced to the Atlanta housewife, she set her sites on the fashion world. Despite setbacks, she made it happen, even if it took 14 years.
- She didn’t let the competition stop her. So what if it’s been done already, by SHEIN or anyone else? You can put your own spin on a similar idea or, in this case, design like Sheree did.
What are your thoughts? What other lessons can we learn from Sheree?
