Starting and growing a business takes tenacity. Women led and black business-owned businesses often do not have the funding or access to funding to build infrastructure to help sustain and scale their businesses.
We’ve compiled a list of 9 grants to support women led and Black-owned businesses to help them get access to the financial resources they may need to scale.
1-Wish Local Empowerment Program: If you’re a brick-and-mortar business own, the Wish Local Empowerment Program may be for you. Selected recipients can be awarded $500-$2,000 each month. The program is open to Black-owned stores, with 20 or less employees, earning less than $1 million in annual revenue. DEADLINE: Monthly rolling application.
2-HerRise MicroGrant: Each month the HerRise MicroGrant awards $1,000 to an underfunded woman-led and/or woman of color business owners. The business must be 51% women owed, registered in the US and makes less than $1 million in gross revenue. DEADLINE: Last day of each month.
3-The Freed Fellowship Grant: Run a small business and could use an additional $500-2,500? The Freed Fellowship Grant may be for you. Each month, the fellowship select business owners based in the US a reward them $500. In addition to the grant, each fellow gets feedback on how to grow their business and two-months free mentoring. They’re also eligible to receive and additional $2,500 end of year grant. DEADLINE: Monthly rolling application.
4-NASE Growth Grants: Apply for the NASE Growth Grant and get an opportunity to be awarded up to $4,000. If you’re a small business owner and a NASE member (you must be a member for at least 3 months) you can apply for the growth grant to market and advertise your business, or invest in your staff and infrastructure. DEADLINE: Ongoing rolling application
5-National Black Business Pitch: The NBBP is a competition designed to connect Black-owned businesses to corporations who seek to expand and diversify their supply chain with new products and services. Your business must be Black-owned, founded, and operated within the US. If selected, you’ll get the chance to pitch live or virtually to corporate and supplier diversity professionals, DEADLINE: June 9, 2025.
6-Black History Makers Grant: In honor of Black History Month, Citi Trends is acknowledging Black entrepreneurs that are making history in their community today, via the Black History Makers Grant. Their goal is to help advance and further the businesses of Black entrepreneurs. Use our application below to apply for the chance to receive a $5,000 grant, DEADLINE: Feb 28, 2025.
7- The Amber Foundation Grant: In honor of the late Amber Wigdahl, a promising 19 year old who died before realizing her business dreams, WomensNet created the Amber Grant. While the foundation awards businesses at $30,000 each month, they’ve extended their grant giving to “startup grants” and three $25,000 year end grant rewards. All businesses but be women led. 8-Breva Thrive Grant: Small businesses making a difference in their community should apply for Breva. Demonstrate your impact in your, or any, local and underserved community within the US and you may have a chance to be rewarded $5,000, DEADLINE: quarterly.
9-YippityDoo Big Idea Grant: If you’re an ambitious female entrepreneur then you may have a chance at $1,000 in grant funding to launch your business! The YippityDoo Big Idea Grant was created as a means to support and uplift women who wanted to start and thrive a business. Apply now to get your idea off the ground and running. DEADLINE: Rolling monthly.
