Fantasia: Marriage, Affairs, Sex Tape & Overdose Gone Wrong!

Season 3 of American Idol’s winner Fantasia Barrino was hospitalized Monday night in Pineville, North Carolina for overdosing on aspirin and sleep medication. According to the police report, Ms. Barrino attempted to take her life but is now listed in stable condition.

The singer’s desperate act came shortly after a lawsuit was filed by Paula Cook suing Barrino. Mrs. Cook is the wife of Antwuan Cook, a T-Mobile worker Fantasia had an alleged 11 months affair with. According to the plaintiff Ms. Barrino was the cause for the demise of her marriage and even has explicit videos of the defendant and Mr. Cook during some of their sexual encounters.
North Caroline is one of 7 states where a spouse and sue a third party if they believe they were the reason the marriage failed.
In a statement released by Fantasia’s manager Brian Dickens he states,

Fantasia believed Mr. Cook when he told her he was not happy in his marriage and his heart was not in it. She believed him when he told her he and Mrs. Cook separated in the late summer of 2009. She believed Mr. Cook when he told her he lived elsewhere.

Fantasia and Mr. Cook dated on and off for about eleven months. The pressure of the constant media attention was hard on their relationship. 

Fantasia read Mrs. Cook’s Complaint against Mr. Cook for the first time yesterday. She knows some of the allegations in Mrs. Cook’s complaint are totally false. There are others she strongly doubts. There is plenty she does not know.

Fantasia is heartbroken and is sorry for any pain she may have caused.

Yesterday, she was totally overwhelmed by the lawsuit and the media attention. Last night, Fantasia was hospitalized. She took an overdose of aspirin and a sleep aid.

Her injuries are not life threatening. She was dehydrated and exhausted at the time. Fantasia is stable now. She will be released from the hospital soon. Fantasia is a fighter and a survivor. This is not the hardest thing Fantasia has endured.

I hope this is something Fantasia will not only get through but learn a great deal about herself, people and her strength. No man is worth killing yourself! Especially a man that would deceive and lie to you.
