Madonna Upset With M.I.A For Giving The Finger During Super Bowl Halftime Show

Madonna spoke for the first time on her reaction to fellow artist M.I.A giving the middle finger during her Super Bowl halftime show.

During her Friday morning interview with Ryan Seacrest‘s KIIS-FM radio show, she says, “I didn’t know about it until I left. I was really surprised. I didn’t know anything about it,” she said. She found out in the elevator on the way out of the venue.

“I wasn’t happy about it. I understand it’s punk rock and everything, but to me there was such a feeling of love and good energy, and positivity it seemed negative. It’s one of the those things, it’s such a teenager, irrelevant thing to do…there was such a feeling of love and unity there what was the point? It was just out of place.”

She went on to say that although she’s been nervous leading up to her performance, the show was overwhelming nearly moving her to tears, “I felt an incredible sense … of warmth, love, and support. To see an entire stadium light up like candles – it was like a religious experience.”
