Television pioneer, Dick Clark has passed away at the age of 82. The ‘American Bandstand’ and, later, ‘Dick Clark’s New Years Rockin’ Eve’ producer and host suffered a massive heart attack following an outpatient procedure, says publicist Paul Shefrin.

Clark passed at St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica, “attempts to resuscitate were unsuccessful,” his publicist stated.

At the moment his family hasn’t decided on a public memorial but says there will be no funeral.

After his stroke back in 2004, following a Type 2 Diabetes diagnosis, Clark’s health has suffered tremendously over the years. So much so, he cut back on his television appearances and relinquished hosting duties to his annual ‘Dick Clark’s New York’s Rockin’ Eve’ special. The show has since been hosted by ‘American Idol’s own host, Ryan Seacrest.

Following the news of Clark’s passing, many celebs have shared their own thoughts and fondest memories of the important role he’s not only played in their lives but Americans all over the country. Here are a few celebrity tweets.
