On Thursday TIME magazine released their latest issue with this cover of mom, Jamie Lynne Grumet, 26, breastfeeding 3 year old son, Aram. Almost immediately the media went up in a frenzy. While Grumet stands, almost too proudly, little Aram stands upright in a chair as he’s breast fed. Obviously, from the photo, he was very much aware he was being watched. Is it just me or is something wrong here?
Don’t get me wrong, I’m very much for babies being breast fed. I was breast fed myself. It’s medically proven that babies who are breast fed are healthier overall. With that said, once your child is over a year and can walk and talk you should stop!
What’s even more disturbing about this? The Los Angeles mother also uses the same form of attachment parenting to her adopted five-year-old son Samuel.
But, why would she do this? Grument says she was also breast fed by her own mother until she was 6 years old. She recalls, “It’s really warm. It’s like embracing your mother, like a hug. You feel comforted, nurtured and really, really loved. I had so much self-confidence as a child, and I know it’s from that.”
On Samuel, who was adopted from Ethiopia, Grumet says, “Being able to give him that [comfort] with the trauma that he faced was really, really important to me. I didn’t realize how much it would help my attachment to him.
“When his English improved, because the connection was there, he didn’t do it as much.”
Okay….if she says so.
What are some of your thoughts? Do you agree with this method of attachment parenting or would you consider this a form of abuse?

I’m extremely impressed along with your writing abilities as neatly as with the structure in your blog. Is that this a paid subject matter or did you customize it yourself? Either way keep up the nice high quality writing, it is uncommon to see a nice weblog like this one today..
