US Olympic gold winner Gabrielle “Gabby” Douglas has made history! She has not only won a gold medal as one of the fab five on the women’s gymnastic team, she’s now the first American American female to win gold for the individual all around competition, at just 16 years old! It also makes her the first person with gold as part of a team as well as individually.
Here’s Gabby and her teammates following their own win earlier in the week.
Singer Beyonce Knowles, inspired by the young woman’s achievement, sent her congrats via her blog.
She wrote, “A huge congratulations to 16 year old Olympic Gold Medalist Gabby Douglas – WOW – what a thrill to watch you take this Gold! – enjoy this moment, its yours. Thank you for inspiring all of us! Love, B”
Gabby has certainly captivated the world with her grace and smile. Congratulations!
