In some very sad news this morning, Mexican-American singer Jenni Rivera, 43, is presumed dead after a plane crash in northern Mexico.

The singer rose to fame following her break out from Spanish television reality programs. Her outright personality even had U.S. Latinas intrigued enough for ABC to be in development to create her very own show titled , “Jenni.”

Rivera was a three time divorced mother of five. Of her mother her eldest daughter, Chiquis, says her mom was “down to earth” during an interview back in July.

“What you see on television is real, but she’s not one of those stars who forgets her family. She knows what it was like to struggle, so she’s always been there for us,” she added.

Rivera also developed fragrances, cosmetics and clothing lines, and started the Jenni Rivera Love Foundation, which helps single mothers and victims of domestic abuse, something Rivera knew about herself.

The small plane also carried seven other passengers including Rivera.

Our prayers go out to the families of the victims lost.
