“Lincoln” is at the top of the pack with 12 nominations while “Life of Pi” is in second with 11 noms, and “Silver Linings Playbook” has 8. I am most interested in seeing if Denzel Washington wins for Best Male actor in his role in “Flight.” I feel that he is an incredible actor that did not get his justice when he first began to act. I’m also interested to see which director will take the Oscar. I love Steven Spielberg and his work, but “Life of Pi” was a beautiful piece of work, visually. It’s also interesting the “Django” is a part of this as well since it just recently came out. And lastly, I am rooting for the youngest nominee on the list, Quvenzhané Wallis. I saw the trailer for “Beasts of the Southern Wild” and she is amazing, plus she is only 9 years old! What are your picks for this year’s Oscars?
Other categories include, “Best Original Screenplay,” “Best Adapted Screenplay,” “Best Animate Feature,” “Best Foreign Feature,” “Best Visual Effects,” “Best Cinematography,” “Best Costume Design,” “Best Documentary Feature,” “Best Documentary Short,” “Best Film Editing,” “Best Makeup and Hairstyling,” “Best Music(Original Score),” “Best Music(Original Song),” “Best Production Design,” “Best Short Film, Animated,” “Best Short Film, Live Action,” “Best Sound Editing,” and “Best Sound Mixing.” Whew! That’s a lot of little gold men. The Oscar’s are televised on February 26th on ABC.
