Benetton has decided to skip the controversy for its Spring 2013 United Colors of Benetton advertising campaign. This season’s campaign features models from around the world, each with “incredible personal stories”.
This season’s campaign, shot by Italian photographer Giulio Rustichelli, features: Sudanese model and refugee advocate Alex Wek (above). Brazilian transgender model Lea T; Tunisian Hanaa Ben Abdesslem, who as a Muslim and an Arab is a rarity in the fashion world. Dudley O’Shaughnessy, the bi-racial British boxer/model, perhaps best known for his performance in Rihanna’s ‘We Found Love’ music video (below)….
On the brand’s official website they state, “We chose a team of world citizens to share the story of our passion, our thirst for innovation, and our desire to reach out to the world. Nine personalities, nine different shades, to paint our future.”
