Reggae artist Buju Banton, real name Mark Myrie, has been found guilty of cocaine possession with intent to sell Tuesday in a Tampa, Florida courtroom after an 11 hour deliberation over a two day period. The unfortunate news come a week shy off Banton’s Grammy Award win for Best Reggae Album.  The artist was convicted last year with conspiracy to possess and intent to distribute five or more kilos of cocaine.

This is the second trial for Banton, 37 for the same conviction after jurors were deadlocked the first go around back in December 2010.

Although attorneys for the singer intend to appeal, the singer could potential face 15 years in prison.

“Obviously we are all upset and disappointed and emotional,” said Banton’s attorney, David Markus of Miami. “The only person who seems to be OK is Buju. He told us he was happy that he fought, knowing he was innocent.”

Banton’s legal team indicated they’ll file a motion for bail allowing the singer to remain free and continue working until he’s asked to return back to court.
