Over the weekend, New York City’s popular radio station Power 105.1 held their annual Powerhouse concert with some of Hip Hop biggest artists performing at the event.
Rapper Kendrick Lamar made news when he invited Lil Kim to join his set and bowed showing his respect and admiration for the Queen Bee.
It was Kim who shared the image with fans adding, ” King @kendricklamar bows down to the Queen of Rap. Epic moment!!! I Love Brooklyn!!! #barclayscenter #hardcoremixtape Thank U @kendricklamar”
However Kim’s nemesis, Nicki Minaj, who was also in attendance to perform at the festival, shared her thoughts on Kendrick’s gesture and his controversial “Control” verse (Listen HERE).
“I’m probably in the top 5 ni**as he did mention, so go and do your motherfu**ing research,” she said duing her interview with the radio station. “But I also feel like maybe he’s one of those respectful gentlemen that probably wanted to feel like, ‘Oh, I don’t want to say a female’s name.’ Or maybe he just don’t think the kid is ill, but the kid know the kid is ill.”
On Lamar declaring himself the king of NY she adds, “I’m the queen of New York, I’m the king of New York. When you got an album that go No. 1 in Japan and in the U.K. and Australia and America at the same motherfu**ing time and Canada, then you can speak my motherfu**ing name.”
The jab was also taken as a diss to Lil’ Kim whose long declared herself the Queen Bee of Hip Hop and NY.
Nicki later clarified her statements with the following tweets, “Lol. I’m going to post the full interview. It was all in fun. For the record, Hov is the king of NY in my eyes.”
