It’s a Valentine’s Day baby for Simon Cowell and girlfriend Lauren Silverman. The couple has just welcomed a boy baby they’ve named Eric.
The music executive and X Factor creator announce the baby’s arrival when he tweeted, “Very happy to say Eric was born at 17.45pm. Healthy and handsome,” on Friday (February 14, 2014).
“Lauren in great shape. Thanks for all of your kind messages,” he continued.
Of what inspired their son’s name Cowell added, “Named after my dad.”
The baby boy was born in New York City at 5:45 pm, weighing 6lbs 7oz.
We reported last summer that Cowell was expecting his first child with the New York City socialite (See HERE).
At the time, the news came as a shock considering Cowell had been a friend to Silverman and her husband, Andrew Silverman, prior to their messy divorce last year. In fact, Cowell and Silverman’s relationship began while she and Mr. Silverman were still legally married.
Although Simon had initially been reluctant to talk about the relationship and the pregnancy (See HERE), he eventually came around telling InTouchWeekly.com, “I’m the happiest I’ve ever been.”
“I’m really looking forward to (fatherhood). My dad was a great influence on me and I hope I can teach my child some of what he taught me,” added.
Although this is the first child for Cowell, it’s Lauren’s second. She has a 7 year old son, Adam, from her her marriage to Andrew.
Congrats to Simon and Lauren on their little bundle of joy.
