Dear Black Girl, You Deserve Peace

When Halle Bailey accepted an award at the Black Women in Hollywood ceremony, she made it clear how important it was to protect her peace during her pregnancy with her first child and son, Halo. In fact, the singer and actress hid her pregnancy until after the birth of her child with rapper DDG. Of her decision Bailey stated, “There was no way in hell I was going to share the biggest joy of my world with anyone.”

Halle respond to critics

The response came after much speculation and rumors that Bailey was pregnant for much of 2023. The couple also faced criticism over their decision to keep the pregnancy a secret when much of their relationship had been public. Fans and foes wanted to know and even went as far as making derogatory comments over the singer’s desire for secrecy.

“There was no way in hell I was going to share the biggest joy of my world with anyone.” Halle Bailey

“Halo was my gift,” she continued. “He is the greatest blessing, and I had no obligation to expose him, me, or my family to that. With the state of the world and the place it is in with men trying to force their will on our bodies, no one on social media, and for damn sure, no one on the planet was going to tell me what to do with my body or what to share with the world.”

Black girls deserve peace

Black girls like Halle deserve peace and don’t have to give the world an explanation as to their desire to do so, especially about sharing something as private as a pregnancy and becoming a mom for the first time.
