Congratulations to Ms. Jill Scott, so proud of her! Scott’s album ‘The Light of the Sun’ debuted #1 on the Billboard 200 selling 135,000 in its first week according to Nielsen SoundScan.

This is Scott’s first number one album, of the four, since her debut in 2000 with ‘Who is Jill Scott’, rising to its peak position at #17 the following year.

In her Billboard,  Scott attributes  feeling “Free” with the growth of her latest body of work. “That’s the word I’ve been using,” Scott says with a laugh.

“It’s exciting, because it’s on my own terms,” Scott says. “I feel like my eyes are going to bulge out of my head. It’s like starting all over again. Music shouldn’t be a chore or feel like any kind of burden. It’s free and alive. And that’s where I am.”

Kudos to Jill!
