Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr. is now the winner of ‘Americas Got Talent’, season 6. The Sianatra-esque singer is a car washer no more! Eugene Murphy, has won $1 million and a stint headlining a show in Las Vegas.
“Thank you so much for just believing in me,” he said upon hearing his name announced at the end of the NBC summer talent competition.
“It’s been a long, hard journey,” he went on, barely holding back tears as the audience roared, “ever since I was a kid. And it’s finally paying off.”
Almost from the beginning Murphy was a fan favorite, showcasing a humbleness and a surprising unawareness of his natural talent.
His fate was sealed with a smashing performance of “You’re All I Need To Get By” with idol Patti Labelle in the finale show, not that he needed it.
The song was perhaps chosen in honor of the late Nick Ashford, who was friends with Labelle. Great chose!
the star studded event included performances and appearances by Queen Latifah, Leann Rimes, Tony Bennett, and Jerry Springfield just to name a few.
Landau will begin his headline in Las Vegas at Caesars Palace next month. The remaining three finalists will also join him.
