So Matt Barnes and Gloria Govan are over. Well, that’s according to an official statement released by the NBA player just hours ago.
He states,
“I’d like to address the rumors surrounding mine and Gloria’s relationship. We have reached the difficult decision of ending our relationship and will be going our separate ways at this time. We will work together to raise our sons and wish each other only the best.”
The ‘Basketball Wives LA’ reality TV star followed up with a twitter message of her own stating,
I’m sure you guys are hearing a ton of buzz about Matt and Me breaking up, sorry to say… its true!!! But the most important thing is focusing on my kids and continuing to have a good relationship with their father, thanks for your support!!!
Perhaps, there were signs of trouble in the relationship, the couple once referred to as “perfect”, when their nuptials were called off indefinitely last year. A police report even suggested the couple were involved in a heated domestic dispute which resulted in Matt’s arrest. No charges were filed.
I’m sure Gloria’s former rival and co-stars of the original Basketball Wives cast (Miami) are gloating at the moment. The same ladies (Evelyn, Shaunie,and Jennifer) she once called jealous of the relationship they all wanted. Well, they did try to warn her, right?
On another note, I’m not so sure about this break up. I mean, take a look at her sister, Laura Govan’s own relationship with NBA player Gilbert Arenas. They’ve been on-off for the last decade and have had four children! According to Laura, the relationship is even better than ever and they still plan on getting married.
Can you say publicity stunt? Perhaps by stirring up a bit drama these two can stay relevant long enough to keep us guessing for BBWLA, season 2.? Hmmm…, just a thought.
Nonetheless, whatever the outcome I wish these two all the best.
