Its official, Jennifer Lopez and rocker Steven Tyler are the new ‘American Idol’ judges.
For weeks media outlets speculated that both Lopez and Tyler were negotiating with producers to join Idol’s judging panel. After the departure of Idol originator Simon Cowell, Ellen Degeneres and Kara DioGuardi many wondered who would be chosen to replace the former judges.
Yesterday, September 22, 2010, the wait was over. Idol host Ryan Seacrest joined Lopez, Tyler and Idol alum Randy Jackson in a press conference announcing their addition to the ‘American Idol’ family.
Tyler, a legend in his own right, has been in the music industry for over 30 years. His expertise as a singer and songwriter would undeniably serve him well as an idol judge. Lopez on the other, questionable.
Although I respect her hard work and ability to build such a respected brand J. Lo’s singing ability is certainly not up to par. It’ll be interesting to see how well she does as a judge.
