Less than 24 hours after announcing her resignation from Hot 97 radio station, Angie Martinez, has joined rival Power 105. 1.
Although we were all shocked when the veteran radio personality announced she had resigned from the family that helped to build her successful career, it seems, it was all for a very good reason.
On their official website the radio station announced, Thursday morning, “It’s official that Angie Martinez will now join the Power 105.1 family for the afternoon drive weekdays 2-6pm.”
And in Martinez’ own announcement about her move to the station she states, “I want to thank, Thea Mitchem, Tom Poleman and Doc Wynter for this incredible opportunity.”
“I’m excited to join Power 105.1 in New York and The Beat in Miami and expand my brand even further in the coming months.”
The SVP of Programming, Thea Mitchem adds, “Angie is the Queen of New York City radio – she is an incredible talent who continues to blaze trails and we are excited to have her join the team at Power 105.1 and The Beat in Miami.”
“Angie has a long, successful history and we look forward to expanding her distinctive style and compelling content to more of our listeners.”
You’ll begin to hear Martinez on the Power 105.1 airwaves by mid-July.
Of her departure from Hot 97, her former boss and friend Ebro Daren, took to Twitter to release this statement.
“I love you and gave my life to protect you. This is a great opportunity to extend your brand!! Get that $$ … @angiemartinez”
Congrats Angie we wish you all the best at Power 105.
