The second installment of the Arsenio Hall Show has been cancelled by CBS after just one season.
The network made the decision to cancel the show after it failed to bring in the ratings.
“Hall’s bid to recreate the success he enjoyed 20 years ago failed to find a big enough audience in the ever-crowded TV market,” reports Fox News.
In a statement, Hall stated, “I’m gratified for the year we’ve had and proud of the show we created.”
The show is currently in reruns and will not resume production.
Hall began his original late night show run in 1989. By 1994, with other late night hosts entering the arena and declining viewership, the show was cancelled.
With Hall’s return to late night television last year, he had even stiffer competition. For that very reason, the show’s cancellation doesn’t come as a surprise to many.
Hall has been credited to be the go to for bringing urban acts to mainstream media and vise versa — merging of the two wilds. He attempted to recreate the same formula in his second attempt at the late night run.
Are you sad to see the show go? Why or why not?
I’d lobe to hear your thoughts CK readers.
