I’m not quite sure if the above photo is what started the rumor but Ashanti, seen with the guys of The Black Eyes Peas sands lead singer Fergie, is rumored to be the singer’s replacement.
The photo was taken about two weeks ago according to Ashanti’s tweeter updates. She wrote, “Had a blast with the peas last night! #Global #Philippines”. Not much information there.
Several weeks ago, The Peas announced they were taking a break and almost immediately rumors followed, suggesting Fergie wanted to leave the group.
Adding further feul to the gossip mills, earlier in the week when asked about focusing more of her time on her marriage, the singer told E! News, “I’m excited for that.” She also added, “I have my footwear collection and my fragrance, my husband (actor Josh Duhamel), and football and many other things in my head.” When asked about baby, she said, “Possibly!”
In a separate interview fellow band mate Taboo added, “We have to respect Ferg. Ferg is our sister. She definitely wants to have a family, and we’re happy for her.” He added, “You can’t not respect people’s wishes. As our sister, we have to give her space.”
I can certainly understand Fergie’s wishes to focus on her marriage and possibly start a family. As for Ashanti as her replacement, hmmm….. I’m not really convinced. We shall see.
