Openly gay blogger and television personality, B. Scott, has decided to sue BET Networks following the shocking discrimination and backlash during the 2013 BET Awards show.

If you all remember, back in June, the network asked Scott to host a portion of their pre-show red carpet arrivals segment but come the day of discriminated against the blogger’s choice of attire. He was then asked to changed and was replaced by singer Adrienne Bailon.

In his lawsuit — obtained by TMZ – Scott claims he was hired to be the Style Stage Correspondent for the pre-show in June. At the beginning of the show, he says he was wearing a flowing black tunic and black pants … which had been approved by BET executives.

He explains that after the first segment of the pre-show, he was asked to return backstage and told his attire wasn’t acceptable, after all. He was then asked to remove his makeup, pull his hair back and remove his heels.

Scott says he was humiliated and suffered damage to his reputation and that BET is guilty of discrimination based on gender identity as well as sexual orientation. He is suing the network for $2.5 million in damages.

Wow! CK readers do you agree or disagree with the blogger’s reasons for filing the lawsuit?

I do wonder where the clothes came from. Why that new outfit was waiting in the wings.

I can’t say I blame him. If they asked him to come out and be a red carpet correspondent, then I’m sure they were full aware of his sexuality or whatever. Either way that’s his preference on how he dresses and it shouldn’t damn matter!
