2013 may not be over quite yet, but the new year is right around the corner, making now the perfect time to start thinking about which celebrities really hit the nail on the head with style this year. Celebrities have the money and resources it often takes to dress to impress, and 2013 was no exception to the rule. While women are often given the spotlight when it comes to celebrity fashion, there’s no getting around the fact that this year saw some exceptionally well-dressed men.
It’s never easy to narrow down who are truly the “best-dressed” individuals in a given year, but these three men certainly stand at the top of the heap. There’s a lot to learn from how these guys approach style and fashion, and it’s important to remember that you don’t have to be on a celebrity salary in order to afford to look great. Take cues from their styles, and you’ll already have a leg up on the competition.
Bryan Cranston
Bryan Cranston has had an amazing year with the success of Breaking Bad, though his character doesn’t necessarily exemplify how good he is at putting together an ensemble. Cranston graced the cover of plenty of magazines this year, always looking his elegant best. He’s a great example of how attractive silk ties for men can be when properly worn, as they add to his steel-blue suits without attracting a great deal of attention on their own. Cranston may have fulfilled the role of his lifetime, but it’s safe to assume that he’ll continue looking his best even though Breaking Bad has been wrapped up.
Daniel Day-Lewis
Daniel Day-Lewis is known for being an excellent actor, but this year’s appearance at the 2013 Oscar awards solidified him as being one of the best-dressed men in the business. His blue shawl-collar tux, elegant bow tie and perfect pocket square combined to not only make him likely the best-dressed man at the awards, but represent one of the most attractive male ensembles seen in all of 2013. You can tell he has a grasp on what he’s doing when it comes to fashion, especially evident in the sharp, tailor-fit cuts of every suit he wears. Plus, he’s got a head of hair that can foil practically any outfit he chooses to wear.
Benedict Cumberbatch
Benedict Cumberbatch’s career has been skyrocketing in a forward direction as of late, and you can tell by how he dresses for awards shows and other media appearances that he’s confident in his career. Cumberbatch prefers dark suits and keeping contrast to a minimum – think grey dress shirts under black suit jackets. He also knows that sometimes the best way to approach wearing a tie is to not wear one at all, fancying instead a loose, casual collar. Cumberbatch may have been born with good genes, but his fashion sense is strong regardless.
There are plenty of men who could’ve made the list of “best-dressed” for 2013, but it’s difficult to argue with the way these three guys looked this year!
