The lovely 88 yr. old Betty White was recruited to host the May 8th episode of Saturday Night Live, after a Facebook campaign brought in nearly half a million petitioners to have White host the show, that producers had no choice but to allow the actress to, indeed, host an episode NBC called a “special Mother’s Day” show.

White, admitted to not knowing what Facebook was, even joked, “I really have to thank Facebook … I didn’t know what Facebook was, and now that I do know what it is, it sounds like a huge waste of time. I would never think that people on it are losers, but that’s only because I’m polite,”(via popeater).

And, to our delight, Betty White helped NBC and ‘SNL’ score its highest rating show in 18mos. The episode even brought back alum comedians, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Molly Shannon, and Ana Gasteyer.
