Brian McKnight is singing the blues these day. The R&B crooner has just filed a lawsuit against his ex-accountant for fraud and mismanagement of funds.
McKnight filed the suit against Vernon Brown and Company, claiming that Brown ruined his life by not paying ANY of his taxes for close to a decade.
As a result, the singer raked up more than one million dollars in back taxes and over $500k in penalties and interests.
Things were so bad, according to the singer, that Brown contacted Congressman Henry Waxman in order to get McKnight on a installment plan.
But here’s where things got tricky. Brown also screwed up the installment plan and never paid any of the singer’s back owed taxes.
Yup, you read that correctly.
But it gets better. The singer’s credit is not only in shambles, his house has a lien, and his music royalties are frozen.
McKnight also adds that his driver’s license has been suspended as a result of not paying taxes and his son, who shares the same name, also got his license suspended.
Adding salt to his wounds, the singer has also been listed on California’s Top 500 Delinquent Taxpayers.
Wow!
Ruining his life is an understatement, wouldn’t you say?
Ouch!
