In some very unfortunate news, the mother of singer Bruno Mars, Bernadette Hernandez, 55, died Saturday of a brain aneurysm.
Hernandez, a hula dancer and singer, died at the Queens Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, CNN confirms.
Mars, born Peter Gene Hernandez, was just 4 years old when he began performing in his family’s show as an Elvis impersonator. His mother encouraged him to pursue a music career.
The singer also has four sisters, of the group ‘The Lylas’, who are also pursuing music careers. Their journey was set to be documented in an upcoming reality show this fall. No word on if their mother’s death will affect the show’s schedule.
Mars is set to resume his current tour on June 22.
