We now have clearly insight as to why singer Chris Brown has struggled to get his life under control for the last several years. The troubled singer has just been diagnosed as Bipolar suffering from extreme insomnia and post traumatic stress disorder.

Brown appeared in court, Friday afternoon, for a progress report stemming from his 2009 assault on Rihanna and current probation . According to the legal docs — obtained by TMZ — in addition to the singer’s diagnosis he was self-medicating inappropriately.

The rehab facility where Brown completed his 90 day stint writes, “Mr. Brown became aggressive and acted out physically due to his untreated mental health disorder, severe sleep deprivation, inappropriate self-medicating and untreated PTSD.”

The docs, however, failed to specify exactly what caused the singer’s PTSD but it did mention that Brown was diagnosed with Bipolar II.

The letter adds that the singer is now on medication for his bipolar and other conditions. He’s also learned various relaxation exercises and has tested negative for drugs, including marijuana, during his stay at the facility.

The facility concludes that the singer is doing well, especially with his community service. “Mr. Brown’s attitude has been beyond exemplary in regard to his community service responsibilities,” the letter also adds.

We hope the singer continues to do well and overcome his past issues.

  1. gosh, i feel so bad for him. i hope he gets the help he needs in rehab

  2. He grew up watching his mother get beat. That’s enough to cause PTSD.

I think the signs were always there, but we’re so quick to judge. By now we should know that most people who make it to fame have issues that manifest in other areas, such as addictions, body dimorphic disorder, anorexia, mental disease, and “exhaustion”…which generally means all of the above.
