This morning news broke that Chris Brown‘s new neck tattoo was of an abused Rihanna. The tat appears to be a half battered face of a woman while the other half left unscathed. Unfortunately some media outlets decided to compare the tat to an abused Rihanna following the assault by Brown in 2009. Here’s a close-up of Chris new tattoo.
A rep for Chris has confirmed that the tattoo is not Rihanna nor is it of a battered woman. In fact the tattoo was inspired by a sugar skull and MAC cosmetic he saw, according to the rep. It’s meant to commemorate the Mexican holiday “Dia de los Muertos”. Chris Brown also tweeted, “I’m an artist and this is art. Dia de los Muertos(Day of the Dead).”
As a celebrity and entertainment blogger we (the media) sometimes poke fun and exaggerate a story but to completely fabricate and cause hurt to the victim of assault for the purpose of driving traffic to your website is shameful. Rihanna is still the victim here. That photo of her abused face should have never been released and to continue using or referencing it is a slap in the face. Regardless of the current state of their relationship (whether they’re back together or not) it was blatantly wrong!
In some more positive news, however, Chris Brown is still complying with his probation and recently visited a the Jenesse Center for abused children. Here’s his trip to the center and what he had to say.
