Ladies please be careful with whom you meet on these social media sites. A woman nearly lost her life after being shot five times by a man she met on a social media mobile site called Mocospace. The man became irate and shot her after feeling rejected when she expressed she didn’t want more than a friendship.
The woman, who wanted to hide her identity told Memphis’ Fox 13, that the man portrayed himself to be a good guy.
“He was like a completely different person,” the woman, who didn’t want to be identified, told FOX13.
She said when they finally met face-to-face, the man wanted more than a friendship.
“I reminded him I don’t have sex with everybody,” the woman said of her meeting. “I’m old fashioned, especially (since) we just now meeting each other face-to-face.”
After she refused to have sex with the man she called “Dereck,” the victim told FOX13 he got mad. According to the police report, the suspect drove her to Heistan Street and told her to get out.
“He said it is hard feelings, and he just started shooting me,” the victim said.A resident heard the woman’s scream for help and called police. Police said they have the shooter on surveillance video from residents.
There is not a clear name for the suspect. The victim told FOX13 he goes by “Tyrone” on Moco, but “Dereck” in person.If you have any information that can help police in this investigation, call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH. – Fox 13
