It’s official, David Letterman has announced his retirement, effective in 2015.

The reigning king of late night television announced, Thursday night, that after thirty-four years on television, twenty-one of which he’s spent as host of “The Late Show,” he is ready to retire.

Letterman, who’ll turn 67 on April 12th, revealed that after giving it some thought he’d like to spend some much needed time with his family.

There are no known prospects to replace the “Late Show” host at time time.
