Sheree Talks Quitting ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ Reality Show

Despite rumors she was fired, Sheree Whitfield would like us to know it was actually her idea to quit the ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ reality show.

It’s no secret Sheree hasn’t had the best season this time around, from relying on child support to stay afloat in a dismal economy, building a house she couldn’t finish paying to build, accusations she’s a liar and a fraud over her divorce settlement with ex-husband Bob Whitfield and being branded the least successful of her cast mates, it’s been pretty tough. Perhaps, a few reasons she has decided to walk away from the successful franchise.

In Sheree’s official statement to Wetpaint.com she says,“After four solid seasons of helping Bravo build the show into its most successful Housewives franchise, I have decided to leave. The direction the show is going in is no longer a fit for my lifestyle. I’m tired of the fighting and the cattiness.”

“I want to be part of something that empowers and inspires women to not only be healthy, but to treat themselves with respect.  I wish the rest of the women the best of luck. I’m thrilled to say I’m now a free agent and am already fielding offers.”

The statement goes on to say, Sheree will continue to focus on her clothing line, She by Sheree. She’s also embarking on a new fitness venture to inspire people to live healthier lives.

I’m not sure what offers there may be but I’m not so sure this was a smart move. Although she has tried to establish herself, she’s been unsuccessful in forming a viable brand throughout her stint on the show. I’ve long suggested she create a fitness brand of some sort and promote that. From a number of episodes, it’s clear she’s really into working out and staying healthy. But with leaving a successful show you’re also leaving the many possibilities and doors that can be open for you.

In my opinion, reality shows are another form of promoting and marketing yourself for commercial success. Millions of viewers tune in (for the drama, of course) every week so it’s always a great opportunity to promote whatever you’re “selling”, right? The clothing line hasn’t had much “success” and well her fitness and healthy living venture is a great idea that is long overdue.

Well with that, best of luck Sheree.
