Disco Singer Loleatta Holloway Passes Away

Some sad news in the music world today, singer Loleatta Holloway passed away this morning at the age of 64. According to reports, the disco and soul singer died from heart failure after battling a brief illness.

Loleatta Holloway, born November 5, 1946 in Chicago, Illinois, began singing gospel with her mother in the Holloway Community Singers and went on to recorded with Albertina Walker in the Caravans gospel group.

Her most notable song “Love Sensation” has been recorded many times over but never duplicated. The single sampled in Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch’s “Good Vibrations” (1991) garnered Holloway her first U.S #1.

Wow! Such a flash back of Mark Wahlberg’s rap days! Ha!!
