Troubled rapper DMX has agreed to fight acquitted Trayvon Martin shooter and killer George Zimmerman.
These two can’t be serious, right?
Sadly, they are.
“Celebrity boxing promoter Damon Feldman tells us, DMX was selected out of 15,000 applicants … all of whom wanted a piece of Zimmerman in the ring after he issued the open challenge to fight anyone willing to take him,” reports TMZ.com.
Of wanting to fight Zimmerman the rapper told TMZ at the time, “I am going to beat the living f**k out him … I am breaking every rule in boxing to make sure I f**k him right up.”
Ironically the news comes on the day that would have been Trayvon Martin’s 19th birthday.
Are you guys just as disgusted as I am?
George Zimmerman has managed to remain in the news for much of the same antics that landed him in front twelve jurors and yet here he is making a mockery of the judicial system. Unfortunately, it is at the expense of Trayvon Martin’s memory.
If we’ve learned anything from this case, it should be, that living in a new millennium doesn’t erase prejudices and injustice.
Although, I admit, I’d be amused at seeing Zimmerman get his butt handed to him in a match against DMZ, it solves nothing.
Trayvon Martin is still dead and the crime against him goes unpunished.
The two men are set to go three rounds. A time, date and location for the match has yet to be announced.
