We’ve been tricked! On Friday we reported Latin singer Shakira delivered her first child with soccer player Gerard Pique. It was a false report.
The announcement, made via Twitter by Gerard, was a prank gone wrong. He initially tweeted in Spanish, “Ya ha nacido nuestro hijo! Estamos muy felices! Gracias a todos por vuestros mensajes!” which means, “Since our son was born! We are very happy! Thank you all for your messages!” However one day later Piqua followed up with, “Ya tiene nombre! Se llama Inocencio! Feliz Día de los Inocentes a todos!” Which means, “It has a name! His name is Innocent! Happy April Fool’s Day to all!”, when translated in English.
It was meant as a joke for Dia de los Inocentes, which is the Spanish equivalent of April Fool’s Day.
What a dirty little trick, huh? Guess, the joke was on us!
We’ll keep you all posted on when Shakira actually gives birth.
