Actress Gabrielle Union visited the Arsenio Hall show, Tuesday night, to do a bit of promotion for some latest projects including her BET original series, “Being Mary Jane.” It didn’t take long before the topic quickly turned to marriage considering Gabrielle is recently engaged to Miami Heat player Dwyane Wade.
The actress wasn’t hesitant is discussing her belief in having a pre-nup.
Union, whose first marriage to NFL player Chris Howard lasted for just four years, says, “The biggest difference between this and the last marriage will be a pre-nup, at my insistence. When you have your own stuff, you don’t need to worry about anyone else’s stuff.”
“Everyone should go into the relationship knowing, ‘I’m here for you, and you’re here for me.’ And the reality is, I’ve never seen Dwyane balance a checkbook… so, I gotta protect my stuff,” she added.
She also says she doesn’t plan on having a bridal party the second time around. “There are no bridesmaids, no groomsmen,” she told Hall. “Trying to wrangle a bunch of broads … somebody wants one kind of dress, somebody wants something else. You start to, like, not like them after a couple months. And we’re older. This is the second time around. It’s us and the kids, and we’re just riding out, just us.”
