Your pleas were heard loud and clear. It seems, the petition to stop troubled rapper DMX from going in the ring with acquitted Trayvon Martin shooter and killer, George Zimmerman, was not in vain.
People were so upset by the notion to allow an acquitted murderer to profit or gain any more notoriety for his crime that the promoter, Damon Feldman, may have just had a change of heart.
Feldman took to Twitter, Saturday afternoon, to announce, “The George Zimmerman fight is canceled I’m sorry for anyone I hurt with this but this was a very big opportunity thank you”
“I want to thank everyone for the good n bad comments I’ve made the choice to cancel the fight w George Zimmermann more to life then money. I walked away from av million dollar payday with this fight but to be honest I’d rather be happy and make people happy thank you.”
But it’s still unclear whether Feldman has made a final decision regarding the match. He would later send out several more tweets indicating the final decision had still not been made.
He goes on to say, “I am holding a press conference this Tuesday about this event it’s been all over the place. I’m going to make my final decision and let it be known this Tuesday at press conference this is the biggest controversial event I ever did. Its so controversial and confusing decisions have to be made I’m all over the place with this I’ll make it at Tuesday’s press conference.”
He adds, “I will address the media Tuesdays press conference.”
Earlier this week, it was announced that the troubled rapper and the acquitted neighborhood watchman, who gunned down a then 17 year old Trayvon Martin for looking suspicious, would go toe-to-toe at a celebrity boxing matching (See HERE).
The announcement left in a frenzy, feeling the event was offensive to Trayvon Martin’s legacy and his family.
We hope Damon Feldman will ultimately feel the same.
Do you think Feldman should officially cancel the match? CK readers, I’d love to hear your thoughts.
