Did we say Janet Jackson was a billionaire? Well, think again. Forbes would like for us to know it’s not true.
Although a recent article published in Variety suggested the singer had reached the billionaire status we now know that’s inaccurate. As reported by OMG!, “Jackson, who is one of the best-selling artists of all time, has earned $458 million thanks to her successful concert tours, $304 million from acting roles in films like “For Colored Girls” and “The Nutty Professor,” $260 million in album sales, and more than $81 million from tour sponsorships and licensing fees.”
However according to Forbes, “To be fair, the story does not specifically say that Jackson is a billionaire. It just lays out the money that her work has brought in over the span of her career including $81 million from music and book publishing, $260 million in album sales and $458 million from touring. Together with other areas of business, the revenues add up to $1.2 billion. But that’s very different than a net worth.”
They’d also like to clarify that although actress Julia Loius-Dreyfus, Madonna and the Kardashians were also reported as entering the billionaires club, they too, are not yet billionaires.
