The late great Joan Rivers passed away, September 4th, due to the lack of oxygen flow to the brain. That’s so according to the New York City medical examiner’s office. Rivers’ death was a result of irreversible brain damage, the office further elaborated. Rivers endured brain damage following a heart attack during a procedure to scope her upper gastrointestinal tract and vocal folds.
At the time, Rivers was experiencing a severe sore throat and discomfort when she visited her personal doctor, Lawrence Cohen. Cohen, who was the medical director of the facility where Rivers sought treatment has since resigned.
Joan Rivers went into cardiac arrest during the surgery on August 28th and passed away on September 4th. The coroners declared it a medical procedure complication. The New York State Health Dept., however, is still investigating Rivers’ actual cause of death.
We send our condolences & may this legend rest in peace.
