Kanye’s big ego has some how convinced him that he should be called the new “King Of Pop”. He’s reportedly gone as far as trying to make contact with members of the Jackson family to obtain official permission to use the title, but haven’t received any response.
Here’s what Kanye had to say:
“You know everyone loves and respects Michael but times change. It’s so sad to see Michael gone but it makes a path for a new King of Pop and I’m willing to take that on. There’s nobody who can match me in sales and in respect so it only makes sense for me to take over Michael’s crown and become the new King,” said West. “First there was Elvis, then there was Michael, now in the 21st century its Kanye’s time to rule. I have nothing but respect for Michael but someone needs to pick up where he left off and there’s nobody better than me to do that. I am the new King of Pop.”
To be honest, I am a little annoyed at the nerve at Kanye. You have a long way to go before you can hold the title of “King of Anything”. He’s obviously forgetting Michael’s legacy and his power and intrigue as a performer, song writer, producer, singer, entertainer, business man, empire etc. Kanye may have a successful music career but he will never be the charismatic performer Michael was. He will never be the humbled star Michael was. So Please….. get off it Mr. West. His title was earned not asked for.
In fact, through this article I just learned that, Michael was given the nickname the “King Of Pop” after a comment made by longtime friend Elizabeth Taylor.
