Keke Palmer has grown into a beautiful young women. The now 21 year old was among the long list of celebrities to kick off the annual Essence Festival in New Orleans, LA.
The singer and actress looked gorgeous in a form fitting two tone stripe Mychael Knight dress.
Palmer paired the number with a pair of Frontlin Specchio sandals ($595) are by designer Tamara Mallon.
Palmer, who’ll soon celebrate her 22nd birthday, also spoke with Essence about her transformation over the years and coming into her own.
On her accomplishments and biggest achievement in her 21 years Palmer explains, “I owe so much of my 21st year to my experience on Broadway because it opened up my eyes, not only as an artist and entertainer, but as an individual person.,”
And perhaps with good reason. Keke was the first African American woman to play Cinderella on Broadway during the four month run.
She also talks how the achievement forced her to be more disciplined. “Once I’m in the zone, you can forget about getting me out of that zone,” she admitted. “It takes a lot for me to let loose because I’ve always had this [stomps on the ground] type of personality—working, very disciplined—and when I did Broadway, my discipline went to another level.”
