Kelly Rowland has jumped to friend Kim Kardashian‘s defense. In wake of the reality star’s divorce announcement and a tremendous amount of media criticism, Rowland says, she can relate, because she too almost married the wrong guy.
Back in 2005, the “Motivation” singer was engaged to former Dallas Cowboy, Roy Williams. Not long after the engagement was announced the two went their separate ways.
During a recent interview with British’s Daily Mail, Kelly reveals, “I wanted that wedding. I wanted to be married.”
“I wanted to have kids. At that time I was crazily talking about wanting five,” she said. “You can just make wrong decisions in life. That was all a part of growing up. I just think it’s important to trust your gut. I did a lot of soul-searching afterwards, and I want to be married, so dating is part of that process.”
In her interview with the UK Cosmopolitan November issue, she further elaborated on their relationship and the failed engagement.
She says, “I was too young for marriage,’ she admitted “I remember my sister B [Beyonce] asked me one question: she said, ‘Well, you know what you want now, don’t you?’ and I was like ‘Yes’. It was so hard and embarrassing because everyone knew. I’d posed for the front cover of a magazine in my wedding dress and it was on sale! But sometimes you fall down and you learn from it”.
On whether she’s dating or already attached, she says, “I’m happy,” she grinned. “I’ll keep it at that.”
