With a follow-up to the single “i”, a second single, released just days ago, has set the stage for Kendrick Lamar‘s highly anticipated sophomore album To Pimp a Butterfly.

Samples from the album are reminiscent of Lamar’s Section 8.0 and Overly Dedicated albums, a good look for day-one fans that seemed to fear that Kendrick was crossing over to mainstream with Good Kid MaDD City. However, it was this very album that made Kendrick the face of hip-hop for most, if not all of 2013. Two Grammy Awards, and two years later, the world of hip-hop is definitely ready for another classic. Only time will tell if he really owns the crown he once proclaimed.

Originally expected to be released on March 23, 2015, Lamar’s newest album was actually released a week early on March 16, 2015.

Have you heard the album yet? And if so, what are your thoughts so far sweethearts?

Awesome write up! I love the new album. I am very interested in what songs they choose next as singles. I think “Alright” will be next.

The is definitely well written very precise! I didn’t even realize Kendrick Lamar dropped a new album. I decided to buy the album and listen to it, and it was pretty good. However, GH said “Best album I’ve heard in the last 5 years!” Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but this can be very controversial! Drake is a BEAST! LOL
