Keyshia Cole was just served divorce papers, but, it was NOT from her estranged husband Daniel Gibson.
An imposter posing as the basketball player filed documents, last month, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the divorce.
TMZ broke the story … the singer was on the verge of filing for divorce last month, but still hadn’t pulled the trigger when Gibson supposedly filed last week in L.A. County Superior Court.
We got a copy of the docs which looked pretty standard … citing irreconcilable differences. However, it seemed odd an ex-NBA player like Gibson would list himself as his attorney.
We called the phone # listed for him in the papers — and the person who answered claimed he was Gibson, but sounded suspect. So, we checked the address listed … and it turned out to be an El Pollo Loco restaurant. Crazy, right?
The real Daniel Gibson, now aware of the imposter, says that he’d never actually consider filing the divorce papers. He says, “She would have to do it. I am a Christian. I believe in ’til death do us part.'”
As for the imposter, Gibson says he plans on pressing charges.
And what did the singer have to say about all this? Cole still plans on filing divorce papers, perhaps, whenever she gets around to doing so.
The couple split last year following reports Gibson was unfaithful during the course of their marriage.
