Lindsay Lohan Lands Role In Elizabeth Taylor Movie

Lindsay Lohan will reportedly play the legendary Elizabeth Taylor in an upcoming Lifetime movie.

In an official statement to the DailyMail Lohan says, ‘I have always admired and had enormous respect for Elizabeth Taylor. She was not only an incredible actress but an amazing woman as well. I am very honored to have been asked to play this role.’

Rob Sharenow, Executive Vice President, Programming, of Lifetime Networks said: ‘We are thrilled Lindsay will portray beloved Hollywood legend Elizabeth Taylor. She is one of the rare actresses who possesses the talent, beauty and intrigue to capture the spirit of such a provocative icon.’

The movie is set to be titled ‘Liz and Dick’ which will rehash her romance with husband Richard Burton. The couple met on the set of the iconic 1963 film, ‘Cleopatra’. They were both married at the time but left their spouses to be together. By 1973 the couple had divorced but were later remarried in 1975, only to divorce, again, 10 months later.

Not many people are receiving the news well, however, As early as this morning Rosie O’Donnell has spoken out against the troubled star.

O’Donnell told Matt Lauer on the ‘Today Show’ this morning, “I feel very sorry for her … I think she needs a lot of time away … She’s had a lot of trouble doing every single movie, including SNL. She was out and not in rehearsal. I think she’s not in a place to work….”I don’t think she’s right for the role and I don’t think she’s capable at this point to portray that character.”

What are some of your thoughts? Do you feel Lohan was the right choice for the film? I admit, I was a little surprised when I heard the news. It’s no secret Lindsay has battled drugs and alcohol addiction in the past. Her career is just starting to get back on track but, in my opinion, not enough for this kind of movie commitment.
