Rapper and actor Ludacris has just been awarded full custody of his 13-month-old daughter, Cai.
Ludacris, whose real name is Chris Bridges, has been in a bitter custody battle with Cai’s mother, Tamika Fuller almost as long as the baby girl has been born. The judge in the case finally came to a decision, on Wednesday (Jan 28, 2015), that the baby girl would be best with her father.
Upon being granted full legal custody Bridges issued this statement via PEOPLE, “After review of all the evidence, the testimony of the witnesses, the report of the guardian ad litem, and the claims made throughout this entire case, I am gratified that the judge found me to be the most fit and proper parent to have primary physical custody of our beautiful daughter.”
News of Cai’s birth came as a surprise, last year, considering the rapper had been in a relationship with his longtime girlfriend Eudoxie Mbouguiyengue. The couple would later confirm that they had briefly split during the time of Bridges’ fling with Fuller. Since then, the two parents have battled for custody of the baby girl.
In fact, Fuller requested that her child support payments be increased and made claims that the rapper initially requested she terminate the pregnancy. Bridges found the accusations damaging to his reputation and further urged the judge to grant him custody because of his ability to provide a better environment for Cai.
Over the holidays, the rapper and actor also married Eudoxie the same day he proposed.
Following the nuptials, Fuller claimed the rush down the aisle was an attempt to further convince the judge he was a better fit parent with a stable home for Cai.
Bridges also has a 13-year-daughter, Karma, from a previous relationship.
