While Hip Hop fans are in a frenzy over Macklemore and Ryan Lewis‘ win for Best Rap Album of the Year at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards, Sunday night, the duo would like to make one thing clear. They’re very much aware that Kendrick Lamar should have won.
In fact, Macklemore took things one step further when he texted Kendrick admitting to robbing him of the win. He texted the Compton rapper admitting, “You got robbed. I wanted you to win. You should have. It’s weird and sucks that I robbed you. I was gonna say that during the speech. Then the music started playing during my speech and I froze…”
Macklemore, who’d been friends with Kendrick prior to their Grammy square off, shared an image of the text message he sent to the fellow rapper following the awards show.
Upon sharing the photo with fans on his Instagram profile he adds, “My text to Kendrick after the show. He deserved best rap album… I’m honored and completely blown away to win anything much less 4 Grammys. But in that category, he should have won IMO. And that’s taking nothing away from The Heist. Just giving GKMC it’s proper respect.. With that being said, thank you to the fans. You’re the reason we were on that stage tonight. And to play Same Love on that platform was a career highlight. The greatest honor of all. That’s what this is about. Progress and art. Thank you. #grammys.”
Kendrick has yet to respond publicly over his Grammy defeat.
Very honorable of Macklemore nonetheless.

This test was stupid because if he really wanted to say something he would have said it as soon as he got the award and on top of that he would have give the award to Kendrick. Miss me what the bull shit Macklemore, on the real. Now I believe he won the award fair and square. How about you.
