Movie Review: The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2

Okay my fellow Twi-Hards, let’s get to it. Our beloved Twilight series has come to an end and ‘Breaking Dawn Part 2’ does not disappoint. Before I begin, if you have not watched the movie then I suggest that you do not read this review. Wouldn’t want to spoil it for you.

Let’s start off with the bad. I didn’t like how easily Bella transformed into a vampire. In the book, as a newborn, Bella went through a lot of hardships. She had to learn to control her thirst as well as her strength. In the movie, she transitioned as if it were nothing. I also HATED the fake baby that they used as Renesmee. This “thing” was so creepy that all I could do was laugh. Last, I hated how short the movie was. This is the last installment for crying out loud. At least give us two hours.

Now for the good. I loved how all the extra vampires were true to character. I wondered if they would leave some of them out or go into minimal detail about them. Next, I loved how the powers were shown in the film. While reading the book, I wondered how the hypnotizing gas from Alec or Bella’s “protective shield” would be displayed. I was very impressed with the details that went into showing this on screen. Next, the fight scene. I believe everyone will agree that this scene was EVERYTHING! As a reader, I was confused by this fight and even more distraught when particular vampires and werewolves were killed. But when we later saw that it was all a vision from Alice and I was relieved. Last, Bella and Edward’s last moment together on film. Bella was able to let her “shield” down and allow Edward to see into her mind. With Christina Perri’s “Thousand Years” playing in the background, Edward is able to see exactly why Bella is so in love with him. Tear jerker! The whole movie was an excellent end to a legacy. And even though many Twi-hards, myself included, are begging for more movies, I couldn’t have asked for a better ending. Here are a few stills from the movie. Enjoy!
