Natina Reed of ‘Blaque’ will finally be laid to rest today following the car accident that took her life one week ago.
TMZ has learned that her ex fiance, rapper and father of her 10 year old son, Kurupt (pictured above), has opted to cover all funeral costs.
Following Natina’s death the dogg pound rapper released an official statement on behalf of himself and their son Tren Brown. At the time he stated, “Myself and Tren, Natina’s son, would like to thank everyone for their love and support during this tragic time. This is a tremendous loss to our family. Natina was a great person and I wish everyone had the opportunity to meet her and know her as I did.” (MTV)
Reed’s former ‘Blaque’ members Brandi Williamsn and Shamari Fears-Devoe also issued their own statement following her death. “We are devastated by the loss of our group member, sister and friend Natina Reed. Because of the enormous support of Blaque fans and our love for each another, Blaque officially reunited this fall and we were in the process of working on a new album and a reality show. Natina continuously embodied the pioneering spirit of Blaque and her undeniable creativity touched the hearts of fans everywhere. Natina was a mother, sister, accomplished songwriter, artist and friend. We ask for your prayers at this time for Natina’s family. She will forever be missed and her global influence eternally felt. We thank God for the experiences we shared.”
Kurupt, born Ricardo Emmanuel Brown, will maintain custody of their son, much like he has for the past four years, and will continue to remain close to Reed’s family.
Since Natina’s death and the police investigation that followed, it was revealed that the car accident was not a hit and run but may have been a result of Reed crossing the street while using her cell phone. It’s believed the couple driving in the vehicle did not see Reed as she stepped out into the street nor did she see the oncoming car. Although they stopped to aid in her assistance it was too late. Reed had died at the scene of the accident.
She passed away one day before what would have been her 33rd birthday.
