‘America’s Got Talent’ host, actor and musician, Nick Cannon, is causing controversy today after posting a “white face” photo on his Instagram page.

Well, it wasn’t exactly a “white face” image. Cannon actually transformed into a Caucasian man in promotion for his forthcoming album, “White People Party Music.”

But, it may have been Cannon’s hashtags that accompanied the images that really rubbed people the wrong way. He shared the above image adding…

“It’s official… I’m White!!! #WHITEPEOPLEPARTYMUSIC #Wppm in stores April 1st!!!!!!Dude Go Get It!!!Join The Party!!!! #GoodCredit #DogKissing #BeerPong #FarmersMarkets #FistPumping #CreamCheeseEating #RacialDraft “Bro I got drafted!!”

His critics felt the tags were racist and some even complained of the double standard for Caucasion men and women who’ve faced scrutiny for dressing in “black face” (face painted in black paint/mask and “acting black”) for their own humor.

Upon the controversy Cannon took to Twitter to share his thoughts on ruffling people’s feathers. He tweeted, “Hold up… What the f#ck is “White Face”??? Did I just create a new term??? Nice!!! LOL”

“Damn I didn’t know it was going to be this hard being White! … I’m exhausted with all this “privilege” LOL #WhitePeopleProblems”

“I love this conversation though. It’s showing a lot of people’s true colors… #punintended #wppm woooo!!!”

Clearly he isn’t apologetic.

In a recent interview with Us Weekly Cannon offered an explanation for the album title.

“You go to a party and white people are having more fun than anybody,” he explained. “They know how to have a good time! I could have named the album ‘Purple People Party Music’ and you’d still get the same album, but it was just one of those things. You know, you deal with things like race, and people get uptight, so why not?”

Here’s a few more images and videos Cannon shared with his social media followers.

He shared another video with much of the same antics again writing, “Connor Smallnut on the street! #Wppm in stores 4/1/14”

Cannon’s album, “White People Party Music,” officially releases on April 1st.

Do you think Cannon’s “white photo” photos and comments are racist? If so, why or why not?
